Growing Change in West Hill — Together

At The Eden’s Rose Foundation, we believe the strongest seeds are planted when neighbors come together. Over the past months, that belief has been alive and thriving here in Albany’s West Hill neighborhood. From shared garden beds to bustling produce pickups, from hands-on training to quiet moments of mentorship, our community has been busy growing something remarkable — and we couldn’t be prouder.

In West Hill, we’ve seen vacant lots transformed into vibrant Albany Victory Gardens, where young people learn to grow food alongside elders who’ve been tending soil for decades. We’ve welcomed new trainees into the Urban Farmers Training Program, helping them turn curiosity into skills and skills into futures. Families have filled their bags — and their kitchens — through the Produce Pick-up Project, ensuring fresh, healthy food makes it to every table, no matter the zip code.

And this is just the beginning. The Normanskill Pollinator Sanctuary is buzzing with life and learning. The Youth Blueberry Orchard is taking root as a future hub for youth employment and environmental education. The Home Again initiative continues to help newcomers and families rebuild stability. And programs like Wheels Up are giving young people tools, mentors, and adventures that open doors in STEM, sustainable transportation, and the outdoors.

What’s most inspiring? None of this is possible without you. Every seed planted, bike donated or repaired, bee cared for, or meal shared happens because neighbors, volunteers, partners, and donors believe that West Hill deserves thriving gardens, safe streets, and opportunities for every young person.

As we look ahead, we see even more to be excited about — the growth of our projects and initiative both in West Hill and in Ecuador, all of which bring meaningful work and global connections home to Albany.

We are building momentum, and the next chapter will be even bigger — more green spaces, more skills learned, more neighbors connected. We invite you to be part of it. Whether it’s a morning in the garden, a donation to fund tools and seeds, or simply sharing our story, your action matters.

Here’s to West Hill — and to a future we’re growing together.

With gratitude, excitement, and a little mud under our fingernails,

The Eden’s Rose Foundation
