Building one center in each community that can nurture up to 60 children and employ 4 teachers will effect great changes in the lives of these children.
These centers will provide the basic needs of: clean water, nutritious food, sanitary bathrooms, dependable infrastructure, education, an area to play in, an area to nap in and a safe sanctuary.
Our immediate concerns for the centers include:
- Safe electrical wiring;
- Adequate bedding for infants and special-needs children;
- New roofs on the buildings and improvements to the grounds to give better protection from the elements;
- Running water and sanitary hygiene station;
- Fences to create a safe and secure environment;
- Funding for training teachers and supplying food and special nutrition for infants and special-needs children.
There are ten centers surrounding the village of Tosagua that we will sustain. Working on one center at a time, each center will need to be either fully deconstructed and rebuilt or restored in order to be safe and operational. We are currently at work in San Ramón.
